Below is a description of the book:

A timely word is a good and beautiful thing to hear. Kind and wise words can encourage us, build us up, cheer us, and spur us on to love and good deeds. So, what would it take for us to truly speak life-giving, encouraging words? What tools do we need to build others up with encouragement? Encouragement is more than a compliment, or a pat on the back. In this book, we will explore understanding encouragement, and the internal and external process of selecting encouraging words, cultivating listening skills, moving beyond superficial greetings, and recognizing opportunities for encouragement. Many times, when we lack encouragement in the context of a caring community, the truth we are taught in church has the potential to thicken our self-protective strategies, or defensive layers. But, “authenticity, freedom, and greater love for God and others are the fruit of encouragement, and evidence of the tremendous power God invests in individuals who practice it.”
